60279The mechanics behind it are pretty simple too:
- The white-hot liquid glass is hot enough to light the branch on fire.
- While the branch is catching on fire, the liquid glass coats it completely, trapping the plant matter away from oxygen, and it can’t continue burning without oxygen.
That’s how you catch the branch in the state of “plant catching on fire”, without advancing to the “plant burnt” state.
The physics and artistry of this are fascinating but I love how they have to cut the molten glass with shears like it’s unruly fondue

26530“Stop being funnier than me on my own post” is one of my favorite healthy tumblrisms, along with things like “hang on lemme look that up…yeah this is funny” and explicit tone indicators (positive). Like yeah let’s build a world where we playfully format healthy interactions. You made a post and you wanted to be the star but damn, you’ve really gotta hand it to this other person for their really funny addition, so here’s the internet equivalent of giving someone a friendly punch on the shoulder while making sure they know they got a good grade in social interaction
The “Ah, so it was a joke. (then she casually threw away a large rock)” reaction image is one I like too, encapsulates the “rage was gained then proven baseless and discarded within the length of this post,” and I’ve gone back up to read posts I skipped purely because I saw someone had added it.
“My crops are watered, my skin is clear, and my grades are up,” is another good one, a perfect little phrase to get across that one’s day has been improved by the post they just saw, but in a slightly goofy, over the top manner.

4531You’re not “behind” in life because they are no actual rules to when you have to have a ring, a job, a degree, a baby or a house. Those are made up. Not everyone has an easy, priviledged life. Some people are mentally ill, poor, disabled and achieving these things can feel impossible. Give yourself time. Set realistic goals for yourself and don’t compare yourself to others. You’re gonna be ok.

27398this shouldnt be the funniest thing in the world to me but here we are
So, I hate to be That Guy, but this is legit terrifying.
I can’t claim any particular expertise in loony tunes fascist beliefs, but I follow a number of people who are experts. To grossly oversimplify, “mutant” is fasc-speak shorthand for non-humans who pass as humans. This is the part of the RW ecosystem that literally believes there are humanoid reptiles who wear human costumes to pass among the general population.
Like so much fascist belief, when you write it out that way, it just looks silly. The mythos is deliberately constructed to make it as hard as possible for “normies” to take it seriously. (See Sartre’s quote about debating fascists.)
The point is not belief or non-belief in reptile people. The point is that the leader of a fascist movement is telling his followers that they’re correct, there are non-humans trying to subjugate us by prosecuting me. What immediately follows is that it’s okay to kill them. They are, after all, not human. This group of mutants includes trans people, queers, Jews, Muslims, and Democrats.
He’s calling for violence. He’s just doing it in a way that everyone who isn’t on board already can’t hear.
Put another way, he’s playing with matches in a fireworks factory, and there are a lot of people who should know better who are helping him do it.
Other explanations I’ve seen:

Really wish the journalists reporting this bothered to do the actual research to understand what he’s saying instead of shrugging it off as “crazy talk”.

1663I just finished watching ‘How to Build a Sex Room’ on Netflix and … it is probably one of the most sex positive shows I’ve seen. The soundtrack is completely awesome and every song they play use is a bop. Also, the designer, Melanie Rose is lovely and so accepting.
And she and her contractor are a fucking kick when they’re together - and for as much as they joke, her contractor is just as open and accepting as she is. And the people that are featured on this show are such an amazing cross-section of America.
More vanilla couples, people on their second wedding, gay couples, lesbian couples, nonbinary, polycules, a single woman finding her way after 22 years of marriage, a couple where the man was raised super conservative so is far newer to kink than his wife, highschool sweethearts who have been together 17 years where the woman tops …
This 8 episode 'design series’ actually does an amazing job of showing that kink comes in all shapes, sizes and flavours.
I highly reccommend it.

3099there’s something about watching documentaries / youtube videos about space, the planets, and the cosmos that really gives you a kind of easy existential answer. it takes some reminding.
here we are living in the most miraculously beautiful planet in the solar system, literally in the perfect time, perfect space (perfect distance from the sun, the moon, etc.) and perfect conditions to be able to harbor life so diverse and colorful it’s seen no where else in the universe. like… i get it now. let me watch the sunset and pet my cat and take care of my loved ones and eat delicious food
